How I Personalize Your Photos with Unique Editing: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

When hiring a photographer - the first impression you have of them is their editing style. Are they light & airy, dark & moody, retro, bright, colorful...so many options!

Who you choose as a photographer depends heavily on how they edit. Most photographers use the same type of editing style for each client. I've heard this is so their portfolio looks more put together and so that the client knows exactly what they are getting. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing this. It saves time and puts your future client's mind at ease so they know just what the final photos will be like!

I do it a bit differently, some may agree some may not. I ask my clients before our session what type of mood they want their photos to have and have them send me a Pinterest board of photos they like! I am happy to adjust to any type of photography style the client prefers. . Each photoshoot presents me with the opportunity to discover fresh and thrilling prospects, making every session distinctive and individualized.

A look into my editing process

Step 1: Review client's inspiration photos

To ensure that I'm fully prepared for a client's photoshoot, I take the time to understand their vision and preferences. This involves creating an album of similar photos and collaborating with the client to ensure that my ideas are aligned with theirs. This process helps me deliver the best possible results for their shoot.

Client Inspiration vs Final Edit

Step 2: Make sure conditions are correct during the photoshoot

To ensure I can deliver editing photos to my client's liking I have to make sure that conditions during the photoshoot align with the inspiration photos. Although I can use editing to create it, the more adjustments I can make during the shoot - the faster the editing process can be. Adjusting lighting and camera settings are a couple ways I can make sure conditions are perfect.

It may seem obvious: but proper lighting is the most important part of any photoshoot.

Step 3: Craft custom presets per photoshoot

I take great care in crafting custom presets for each of my clients, based on their unique personality and the specific environment and background of their photoshoot. It may be a meticulous process, but it always pays off in the end. By using the inspiration photos and taking my client's skin tone, personality, and expectations into account, I'm able to create the perfect edit that truly captures their essence.

My Instagram feed may not look the most aesthetic...but delivering the exact style my client wants is my main priority

In a world where cookie-cutter approaches are common, I pride myself on providing a unique experience for each of my clients. By prioritizing their desired mood and preferred photography style, I ensure that every session is tailored to their specific vision. The excitement and exploration of each photoshoot drive me to constantly discover new possibilities, making each session a one-of-a-kind experience. Trust me to bring your vision to life with a personalized touch.

If you're looking for a photographer who prioritizes your vision and brings a unique approach to each session, look no further. Let's work together to create personalized and stunning photos that capture the mood and style you desire.
